Cast is Gone!

And you know, I don't know who is more happy about it. Jordan or Logan? Poor Logan got in the way of that cast too many times. When we'd tell Logan that Jo Jo was getting his cast off he would yell "YAY!!!" Poor little pumpkin.

Anyways, the cast is gone, and from what we can see we are very pleased once again with the results. Jordan is happy to, and I think in some way is proud of his "shark bite scars". When he had his first surgery he told everyone that he broke his arm trying to jump off the Space Needle. This time the story was that he got bit by a shark in Hawaii. Hey! It gets boring explaining to people over and over that you had surgery. We will see in the next few months what Jordan is now going to be able to do. I'm going to get him back into swimming lessons. I think it's great for his core and he's got alot of potential to do good at it. Barb his principal at school gave him a bunch of swim passes, so now we are going to use them everyday this month. Ease him back into it. I told him that we will do 30-45 minutes of real swimming then the same amount of time of "fun" swimming. He's such a fish and just loves the water.

Dean and I took the boys to Crescent Beach on Monday. They had a blast. Jordan was right in there and you couldn't get him out. Logan eventually got used to it, but stayed close to shore which was just fine with me.

I am looking forward to taking them there again next week. They are so happy in the sand and the water. It's also very relaxing for mommy!!

I'll update more later, because there is more to say, but I just don't have time right now.

My little Trooper!

Surgery for Jordan went really well. We don't know the true results yet, but Dr Thayer seemed to be very happy with how it went. Jordan was a really trooper yet again. He got a little nervous when we first checked into his hospital room, so I quickly took him out and we went for his favorite dinner. Pasta at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Once he had some food into him he seemed much better and we just chilled out for the rest of the night watching movies. Jordan is such a great cuddler.

The next morning we got up and he had his bath. Then it was surgery prep time. The only thing that he complained about and I can't say that I blame him, was the Midazolam to relax him. It is GROSS! But he got most of it down, it did the job and it was off the to pre-op room from there.

Jordan was so brave. I can't really say the same for Mommy. It was a very nerve racking 2 and 1/2 hours as you can imagine.

Once Jordan woke up they called me into the recovery. I walked in and asked my baby how he was doing. He immediately looked down at the cast on his arm and gave me this VERY pissed off look. I knew right away why he was upset. The doctor had told him that this time his cast would only come to the elbow. He lied and put it up to Jordan's armpit. To Jordan this meant he couldn't ride his bike, play DS or PS2 and would just be that much hotter!! Jordan voiced his unhappiness to the doctor, but the doctor explained that he didn't feel it was set that well, so he brought it all the way up the arm. Nothing we could do now. Then the doctor lied again and told him that it would only be 3 weeks, but yet the appointment was booked for 5 weeks. Hmmm..I didn't think Jordan would notice. Silly me! He did, but in typical Jordan fashion, he brushed it off.

Jordan has managed to figure out a way of playing DS and PS2. He's always been a great problem solver. Dean and I always say we should learn from him. Very rarely will Jordan ask for help, unless it's something that he possibly can't do for himself.

So now he has 1 week left and then his cast comes off. We are all very anxious to see the results!!

Happy 8th Birthday Jordan

Oh my! Where have the years gone? It seems like just yesterday I was making that 911 call to you dad to tell him that you were ready to meet us. I can remember that day like it was yesterday. It started the day before your due date, but you weren't going to make it that easy on mommy. How very unlike you. However, when I think about the fact that you waited until 1 hour past midnight (now your due date) it makes sense. You always like to play by the rules, and that was the rule. We were give June 15 for a reason. You were a little stubborn, well no, not stubborn, just upside down and didn't want to flip over. You needed a little assistance (like the forceps) with that part. You and mommy had a hard labor. You're heart rate drop quite a few times, and those damn doctors still didn't take you out. Sorry, honey, it's a sore point with mommy. Then when you did come, they barely let me have a chance to hold you before they whisked you away to the special care nursery. They tried to put and iv in your beautiful, pointed (due to the forceps) head. Finally they put it in your arm. Mommy had one too. They wanted you in the nursery for 48 hours but mommy cried so hard that they doctors let you out after only 24 hours. That was the happiest day of my life. The day I got to have you by my side all day long.

Mommy was quite scared. Not sure what to do with you. Ma was a big help and stayed with us for 2 weeks. Oh yes, when her and Papa left to go back home mommy cried like a baby. Then it was just you, me and Daddy. You had a tough start. Cow protein allergy then we found out that you had had a stroke during labor. But mommy and daddy didn't have time to feel sorry for you. We just had to get you better.

You hit all your milestones on time. We were so proud of you. It was then we knew what a little fighter you were. You put your mind to something, and even when it got tough, you conquered it. Wow! The things that you have taught us.

You are the kindest, gentlest boy. You have amazing patients with your little brother. You've done so well in school. You really know right from wrong and I know we will never have any trouble with you. When I was pregnant with you, I prayed that you would have Daddy's skin and temper and the man upstairs listened. You are so much like your daddy, and for that I am very thankful!!

You've become the best soccer player. You really do like it. You also love riding your bike, and to this day, mommy and daddy are so amazed, but yet very proud of how well you ride.

You are now 8 years old, and I'm writing this 2 days before you are going in for yet another surgery. This time it's to do with the tendons in your thumb. Mommy is very scared about the surgery. Well, not the surgery, but the whole anathestic thing. It never gets easier. This will be your 4th time having anasthetic and I'm just as nervous this time as I was the first time. But you will do great, and you will be the best patient in the hospital.

Mommy loves you so incredibly much! I'm so proud to be your mommy!!

Happy Birthday Jo Jo!!

But I can say cheese?

What a joke! Ever tried taking a 3 year old for a passport picture? Well, we did yesterday. Before we left the house, I combed his hair and told him that we were going to get pictures taken but that he couldn't smile for them. His response was "but I can say cheese?". No honey, you aren't allowed to talk. No biggie right? Yeah right! Dean goes first, then Jordan, who was totally awesome and his picture turned out like a true passport mugshot. Then myself, then Logan. Logan sits on the stool, we adjust him, and he's not saying a word. But his mouth is open slightly and the man tells him to close his mouth. So his picture looks like he's biting his upper lip. Kind of cute. I just find it weird that there are all these restrictions on kids passport photos, and yet in 5 years time when their passports expire they aren't going to look anything like they did in these. Oh well, those are the rules and we have to follow them.

On another note, I finally got myself contact lenses yesterday. It's just so hard playing ball and not wearing sunglasses on a sunny day. I chose contacts over prescription sunglasses because I don't mind loosing a $20 pair of sunglasses but I do mind loosing a $300 pair.

I'm looking forward to another girls sleepover at Shannon's house with Peggy, Emese, and Kelly. Should be a good time. I'll fill in with details after the weekend!!

June 4, 2007

Again, almost another month goes by without a post from me. What can I say? It's spring and our most hectic time of the year. Ball usually takes up 2-4 nights a week, and then whatever sports Jordan is doing. Weekends are either tournies or puttering around the house. Next thing I know, September will be here and I'll wonder where the heck the summer went.

What's new? Hmmm...not too much. Totally enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having. After school the kids and I are going to head to the waterpark when it's nice. They love to take their water guns and just run around for a couple hours before dinner.

Last Thursday Logan had a rough day. It started out at the water park where he was climbing in the water trusses and fell out. He hit his head and scratched up his elbow. Then, that night at the ball park he fell a few times riding his scooter. Scratched up his knees and got a small cut on his ankle. Well, by Sunday that little cut had gotten infected. I took him to the walk in clinic and then doctor prescribed oral antibiotics and some antibiotic ointment. He also said he needed a tetnus shot, but didn't have any for kids under 7. So yesterday I took him to the doctor. My intentions were never to not vaccinate him but to have him on a delayed schedule. I should have started this when he was 2, but it just slipped past me. So, yesterday he got his first set of vaccinations. 3 NEEDLES!!! Nope, can't say I was impressed, but you do what you gotta do. I've never heard such a blood curdling scream out of his mouth. And of course, I cried too. After the doctor was done he gave Logan some raisins. Logan just hucked them back at him. Once we were back out in the waiting room he was better and then I took him down to the pharmacy and let him fill a bad up with suckers. Last night he had a fever, which I know is normal. His whole little body was also sore, but hopefully he's feeling today. So that's all done for another 2 months. I think for the next set, I'll take him to the health unit. I don't want him associated the doctor with needles and being afraid.

That's all for now,
Love ya all!

OH OH!!

I really broke a promise. My promise to blog once a week, and look, it's been about 6 weeks. Holy crap! Where did the time go? It's amazing once spring gets here what happens. Of course we've been super busy. When aren't we? Sometimes when I go to bed I wonder where have the last 8 years gone. Jordan's almost 8 and I just can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday we were pacing around the living room trying to get him to stop screaming.

I guess you would all like a little update as too what's been going on. There's really not a hell of alot to tell, so here's what comes to the front of my mind.

Jordan and I did a trip done to Portland at the end of April to see his regular doctor and the hand surgeon. They were both happy with his progress. The hand surgeon, Dr Thayer, is going to be doing another surgery on Jordan, but this time for his thumb. The goal with this surgery is to try and get it to open up more. So, his surgery will be June 21. I can't believe how fast you can get a surgery in the States. She beats our medical system!!

Jordan has infected tonsils and is home sick this week. I took Tues/Wednesday off but better get my butt in there tomorrow. Hopefully the work isn't piled sky high.

Hmmm...Oh yeah. Donna found a spot called Iona Beach Park in Richmond. It's a 2 and 1/2 mile long sewage tunnell that runs out into the ocean. You can walk on the tunnel or there is a gravel road below. We took all the kids and their bikes out there and they had a great time! We stopped and they had a picnic and climbed on the rocks. We didn't quite make it to the end, but the next time, I'll throw Logan on the back of my bike and we will. Dean's looking forward to checking it out.

Logan's been Logan! Funny and sassy as ever! I'm telling you, nobody is going to pull the wool over his eyes!!

Anyways...I took time to post, and yes, I'll try and post again in a couple of day!!

Great Spring Break

Last week was spring break for Jordan. Ma and Papa went to Las Vegas for the week, so I just worked Mon, Tues, and Wednesday. It was great, infact I forgot how great it was. I think starting in April I will be going back to that schedule. Unfortunately it rained almost all week. So Monday Dean and I took the kids swimming. Bad mistake! It was so crowded. Then Tuesday, Joanne and I took the kids to Crash Crawly's. Another bad mistake!! It's a good indication that it's busy inside when you see two big school buses outside. Oh well, the kids didn't mind and that's what matters. Jordan, his best friend and I played laser tag while we where there. I'd forgotten how fun it is! Dean and I used to go with some friends before we had kids. We'd laugh so hard!! Jordan wants to have his birthday party at Planet Laser this year and I think it's a great idea. But...seeing as though we had so much fun, I'll be taking the kids before as well.

Dean and I celebrated our 10 wedding anniversary on March 22. It was kind of funny, cause I didn't even realize it was our anniversary until I was talking to a girlfriend on the phone around 1pm. We didn't do anything because we are planning on going on a cruise. Our idea was to do a Carribean cruise in Nov, but now I realize that's hurricane season. And can you really see me on a boat in the middle of the ocean in hurricane season? NOT!! So, I'm not sure when we will go. Jan/Feb was a plan, but I think that we are going to go to Disneyland again. I'd totally give up the cruise for a week in Disneyland!!

I put Logan in trampoline lessons this week, but that didn't go so well. He wouldn't jump on the trampoline, and only wanted Jo Jo. He cried and cried. So, he's probably too young and as much as thought he's ready, I guess he's not. He's been really funny since Mom and Dad went to Vegas. Doesn't want anyone out of his sight. When I tell him I have to leave he says "Are you coming back?". The good thing is as long as he's with Dean or I or Mom and Dad or Nana he's fine.

Gonna see my girls Friday night as we plan our Road Trip 2007 to see Marly in Quesnel. We aren't going until July, but hey, gotta plan early!! Can't wait to see you ladies.

Dean and I are playing ball this weekend out at softball city. I know I said that I wasn't going to play, but they are short, and I can't leave them shorthanded. It'll be fun, especially knowing that this is probably the only weekend that I'll play ball for awhile.

Well...back to work now...So I'll catch up with y'all later.

Happy Birthday Logan!

3 years ago today at this very moment I was at the hospital getting prepared for a scheduled C-Section. Mommy and Daddy very so excited to meet you. I was little scared about the delivery because your wonderful big brother had such a scary and traumatic delivery, but it all went well. About 4 weeks before mommy had you, I had an ultrasound. They told me that you were already 8lbs and that at birth you were going to be around 10lbs. Well, in typical Logan fashion, you proved them wrong. My beautiful little boy came out weighing in at 7lbs 3oz's!! You were a great contented baby. You nursed very well and slept good as well. After 2 nights in the hospital mommy couldn't wait to take you home. So I begged the doctors to let me out early and they agreed provided I took it easy when I got home. Well, I did sort of, but you were such a good baby that I had lots of time to get things done. I think back now, and I can't really recall a night or day that you cried more than 5 minutes. Your big brother was so proud! He was very good with you and loved to kiss and cuddle you. Did I mention that he picked your name because it was the super hero Wolverine's real name? He was so excited to pick your name!

I look back at the last 3 years and wonder where the time went. You have brought so much joy to our lives. You're little temper and very determined personality reminds us all of mommy. Maybe that's why I have a hard time getting mad at you. You sure know what you want and I have no doubt in my mind that you are going to achieve alot. Your sense of humour and the way you always laugh was graciously given to you by Daddy! Some of the things you say just make me shake my head, laugh, and say to myself "you are daddy's boy".

Today we are having your birthday party at Crash Crawly's. You are so excited that you are having a birthday! Jo-Jo got you a Nintendo DS ( and no, I can't believe that I'm letting my 3 year old have one) and I know you are going to be ecstatic when you see it!

You really made the true of the terrible 2's term but you also showed mommy and daddy what fun 2 can really be. While you were getting into all the trouble that you get into, mommy and daddy were secretly laughing. You know when we'd turn around and walk away after you did something wrong? Well...that's only because we didn't want you to see us laughing at you. You were not getting away with it, because we'd generally regroup, then come speak to you. You and your brother are the light of you dad and I's lives. We can't imagine what life would be like without you. Everyday we are thankful for having you two. I can't wait to see what fun and excitement the next year is going to bring us.

Happy Birthday baby! I love you very much,
Mommy

A little behind in updating!

Okay...so I'm not doing to well at posting once a week. I gotta get on that. It's been so hectic around the house that when I get on the computer it's just to check emails and nothing else. I haven't even responded to my emails. So if you've sent me one and I haven't responded, PLEASE don't be offeneded. I love ya all, but just have been so damn busy.

We have 2 Japanese students with us. They came last Saturday and will leave this Sunday. Just 2 weeks. They are 17 and very pleasant boys. Unfortunately it was so miserable this weekend that I couldn't do anything with them. Friday night I took them to Dean's hockey game, which they really enjoyed. Saturday I dropped them off at the mall to do some shopping, and Sunday I took them to the movie store to rent a couple movies. I was very surprised that they didn't rent something in Japanese since their english is not good at all.

Jordan's doing really good. His guitar is coming along great! He is really picking up speed and it really sounds musical now. He's got all his basic notes down pat and can totally read his music. Now he's working on the chords. It's a little challenging for him since he strums with his affected hand and it doesn't "flow" as great as a "normal" hand would. But in typical Jordan fashion, he will conquer it. That reminds me of how every night when he went to bed I would say to him "Who's the king of the world?" and he would reply "ME!" Then I would say " Who can conquer anything?" and again he would say "ME!". I've tried so hard to drive that into him and now I think it's starting to pay off. Yesterday he had the baseball glove on and I was throwing the ball to him. He would catch it and use his affected hand to take it out of the glove and throw it back to me. After awhile of this he said "Mommy, I think I want to play baseball next year." YEAH!! I was hoping inside of me that one day he would even though it's gonna be a huge challenge for him. Then he said " But I don't think I can be pitcher cause you have to turn your hand over and I can't". I told him that that's only in softball or slo pitch and that in the kind of baseball that he will play they throw it over hand and that he would be able to. His whole face lit up. I have already decided not to play spring/summer ball this year. Well, before you all think that I've lost my mind, I did say that I would "spare" where needed. I want to spend more time with the kids this summer. We do bring them to the ball park with us, so either Dean or I end up sitting or even someone sits and watches the kids. I don't want that anymore. I want to watch my own kids! They love coming to the park, riding their bikes and playing in the dirt. Jordan can bring is bat and glove and I will have more time to play with him. I still have many more years in my career, so one year won't hurt.

Logan continues to be a challenge. He's a total monster! He has such a mind of his own. We laugh daily at the things that come out of this child's mouth. Just amazes us!! I could go on and on about the mischief that he causes but well...I'll save that for when I got more time!

One goes down!

And that would be me! I have a good excuse for not keeping up last week. Flat on my back for 2 and 1/2 days with a cold/flu. Not so cool. I HATE being sick, and yes I know that nobody likes it, but I really get pissy when I'm sick. Tuesday I started feeling crappy at work, so I left early. The minute I walked in the door, mom, dad, Logan, Kevin and Clara all headed to Gibson's for the night. That was great. Jordan had come home early from school complaining of a tummy ache. So, he took the couch and I hit the bed. Jordan was feeling much better by the time that Dean came home, but not me. I stayed in bed all night. Wednesday I got up, got my makeup on, did my hair, got dressed and headed into the kitchen. Then it hit me again. I got all hot and sweaty (and not in the good hot and sweaty way..lol) and Dean looks at me and orders me back to bed. I stayed in bed until Thursday morning. By then I was just bored of being in bed and kept thinking about all the work that was waiting for me at work. So, although I didn't feel great, I went in. I didn't get my appetite back until Sunday. But then that's something that won't kill me!!

Last weekend I pitched my very first game in softball. Why? I have no idea, but it's something that I always wondered if I could do. So I gave it a shot. I only walked one person. I was pretty proud of myself. Dean said that I did well, however, he also said that there is no way in hell I'm gonna pitch in spring ball. To be honest, I don't think I'm brave enough. Winterball is one thing, especially playing with a sponge ball, but in spring/summer ball, that ball comes off the bat way to hard and fast, and I'd be terrified. So, I pitched again yesterday, got my first strike out, and first win as a pitcher. Sure, I'm just getting the hang of it, and winterball is over next weekend. Hmmmm....I wonder if I should try it in spring ball??

Kevin and Clara spent last week with us. It was a great visit and the kids all had fun. I wish that we all lived closer, cause Jordan and Clara are so close. We'll try and get down to see them next month though.

Tara, I'm really sorry that I missed the card night. It sounds like you guys got alot done. What happens now?

Well, have a good week everyone, and I'll update when I have something more exciting to talk about.

What a birhday present!!

This is my birthday present from my wonderful husband. Yes, the car I've been eyeing for over a year now. 2006 Nissan Altima with only 28,000 km's on it. I guess Dean was trying to top the Disneyland trip for my last birthday. Yes, I'd say he succeeded!! Thanks honey! I love it!

Friday was a quiet, mommy and Logan day. We went shopping, read books and played. That night Uncle Chad took Jordan for a sleepover. They of course, played PS2 until way to late, but Jordan had a great time. Saturday night, Uncle Chad took Dean and I out for dinner. We just went to this little pub, watched the hockey game and had some appies! Then we went over to his place to play cards. We had fun!

Sunday was a double header and we won both games! Surprise, surprise!! That afternoon the kids wanted to go for a drive in the new car, so we did, and then relaxed the rest of the day.

For the wonderful ladies who I am going on a road trip with this summer, never fear. This car has lots of room, and VERY comfortable. We can still take it on the trip!!!

Oh yeah....I'm no longer a soccer mom!!!!

Back to Newfoundland

Dean's parents left to go back to Newfoundland on Sat morning. What a trip they had. When they got to Deer Lake, it was very stormy and had quite a rough landing. Apparently the plane came down with a thud and then went sideways. You all know my fear of flying? Well, Dean's dad's fear is even worse. So I can just imagine how he was feeling. Anyways, they were to spend that night at a family member's place and then take the bus back to Stephenville the next afternoon. Well, it was too stormy to go, and the roads were closed. They tried again Monday and got as far as Cornerbrook then the bus wouldn't go any farther. The spend the night at their nephew's and finally got home Tues around 11am. I'm sure that they were totally exhausted, but very glad to be home. 2 months is a long time to be away. I think that the kids miss them, and hopefully withing 2 years we will see them again. You know, something's just not right about that. Seeing your parents every 2 years? I couldn't imagine going 2 months let alone 2 years.

As usual it's been a busy week. Between me hitting the gym 3 times a week, and the kids activities, the days just fly by. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like once Logan gets into all the activities the Jordan's in. I guess my new job will be taxi driver.

Logan's had a bad cold all week and complaining of a sore tummy. Thank goodness he will take his cough syrup at night and can pretty well go all night without coughing.

My birthday's coming up on Sat, so I think that Dean and I are going to try and go out for dinner, then maybe head over to Chad's to play cards. We had gone to Dave and Debbie's house last Sat night to play cards with them and Sue and Mur, and had a great time! It was so nice playing cards with 6 people that all knew how to play.

Anyways...staying true to my word about posting once a week, I did, even though it's not too exciting. Hopefully the next post will be a little more exciting!!

Sleep Over 2007

This weekend was alot of fun! Though I can't say that I got to spend much time with the kids, they did have fun with Ma and Papa, Nan and Pop. Friday was a pretty quiet night, seeing as though we had to get up early for ball Saturday morning. We had 3 games on Sat and 1 on Sunday morning. We lost all 4!!! Pretty much everyone on the team our good ball players, but we've never played together as a team until this winter, and I'm hoping that it's just gonna take time to gel together. Hopefully the second half of the season is better than the first. Any of you that know I am a very competitve person, especially when it comes to sports, and I'm getting so tired of loosing!! Bad trait of mine I know. This weekend Papa took Jordan to his soccer game. When they got home, apparently Jordan was quite upset that they lost. The played the best team in the league, but he was still choked. So I came home after loosing 3 ball games, and he voiced his unhappiness to me about loosing. So I really sucked it up saying "It's okay honey, mommy just lost 3 ball games, but we had fun." Ma just shook her head when we talked about Jordan's competitiveness. What can you do? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree..lol.

Saturday was sleep over 2007. We all met at Emese's house. Beautiful house Emese, and don't you dare take that gorgeous fireplace out. It's so cozy in your living room. We had lots of drinks, and enough food to have spent 5 days at Emese's house. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Remenising about old times, trying to play a dice game, and feeding Kelly and Shannon way to many White Russians. We've also planned a "Road Trip 2007" to Marly's in Quesnel on July 12!!! I can't wait. More detail on that though are TBA!! Sunday morning, Kelly and Shannon woke up with horrible hangover. I felt bad for them.....NOT!! I just hope that they made it through the rest of day. Ladies thanks for a great time!!

I think that I'm ready....

to finally start blogging. What my goal is going to be is to keep this updated at least once a week, and somehow try to figure out how to create different "sections". You all should know that I'm not very good at this stuff, but hopefully by the end of 2007 I'll be a pro!!. Anyways...I guess I'll just try and jump right in now!

This has been a crazy week. Monday Jordan was sick and didn't go to school. We know Jordan's sick when he won't eat. It lasted almost 24 hours and once that was gone, the sign of a cold started coming. So I guess we'll have a couple of weeks of that to look forward to. Hopefully he gets better soon!

Yesterday was an absolutely crazy day. I left for work at 6am. Left work at 2pm, picked Jordan up at 2:45, came home for 10 minutes to get us both changed and headed to Richmond for guitar lesson. From Richmond it was straight to soccer practice. After that, I went home for 5 minutes (long enough to pour a cup of coffee) and headed to our montly PAC meeting at Jordan's school. I finally arrived back home at 9:15pm, dog tired, and very thankful to my dad for taping Gray's Anatomy (I forgot to tell Dean to record it). Oh well, guess it's all part of being a working mom. I can't wait until I go back to 3 days a week.

Logan's been a good boy all week. We have really started potty training him, and although we have to keep asking him, he will go. Often it takes me offering to race him to the bathroom to get him to go, but hey, whatever works!!

Renovations are moving along nicely. The electrians finished their work yesterday and the furnace is coming on Monday. I can't wait to have central a/c this summer! I'll probably never leave the house!!

Dean and I have a ball tournament this weekend, and Saturday mommy has a girls night sleep over with Peggy, Shannon, Kelly and Emese. I'm really looking forward to spending time with the girls that I spent alot of my "single" days with. I just wish that Marly could be there. I miss her tons!!

Anyways...that's all for now, I'll update more after the weekend.

P.S. Tara...aren't you proud of me??
